Canal towpath - Topping stone

hi all'
i've put a price in to dig out and stone up the local towpath. they have come back to me requesting a price to top the mot off with, quote. BREEDON GRAVEL/LIMESTONE/ULTRIMAC/SBM. does this mean anything to anyone its 50mm thick on 75mm compacted mot. also does anyone know how much a 100m role of terram is.

breedon gravel is a tarmac product i think, comes out the quarry near stoney middelton used on alot of peak district paths and canal. i drove past the quarry tonight on the way home, how did you price the job with out knowing geotextile prices haha these are the prices to us with discount

of note british waterways usual require your machine to be running on biofuel and have bio degradable hydraulic oil. but if you are working for parish council etc might no be a problem

my first price was just ball park, ie dig out stone up. the spec on the tram says 1000 terram geotextile or similar. whats so specil about this stone? is it that it compacts well and dosent move. i did ask about machines running on bio but nobody has mentioned it since. at the moment the parish council and other local committies are aplying for funding. the moneys there up for grabs they have just got to put something together. the british waterways have give them a price off there normal contractor, i thought they would have blacktopped it for that price.

hi breedon gravel is usually found on garden paths im working in a garden square at the moment where all the paths are laid with breedon gravel .it compacts really tight and looking at in the jumbo bag and then on the floor six months later ,you wouldnt think it was same material.if you need any info on it i will ask the gardeners for you.

and giles i can get a 100m by 4.5m roll for a lot less than that

also anybody got any idea of price for breedon gravel, or is it like the same price as the colour GOLD

tony, that was just the copy from trademate on travis site think you have to go through to the end to get the discounted price actually

Limestone - too loose a specification. This could be summat as simple (and useless) as 10mm chippings

Ultrimac - I think this is a proprietary brand of a Breedon alternative. I'm not sure, but I have a feeling the name is either spelled differently or a slightly different word....Ultimac, possibly.

SBM - Self Binding Material. These are, almost exclusively, limestone in origin. Some of the sandstone versions are cheaper but perform so poorly in comparison, they they only ever get used the once.

always good to get a reply off the boss. had a price for gravel at about £50 per ton plus haulage. i will need about 90 ton of breedon gravel and 150 ton of mot.
