Do you pay the customer a fee for using a photograph of the nicely finished job for use on your web site, to promote your services ?

my customers love the fact that their driveway or patio will appear on my website, I always hide reg plate or street signs though

I also ask permission if i can add them to my list of previous customers what i can mention for new customers when I am quoting in the same area so they can either contact them or call round and see the standard of workmanship we do

non have ever refused

I always ask permission and to date only 3 have asked for nil publicity and you have to respect that.
I have about 30 thank you cards and letters and I keep meaning to scan these in and upload them
any pictures taken from a public place I.E. a road need no permission but its always best to ask

You need permission from the property owner. In most cases, verbal permission would be adequate, but if you wanted to publish the photies in a book or brochure, a written consent form is much better.

If any of them wanted a fee, I'd leave them to it, but if clients stipulate no photos/publicity, then you have to respect that. Some professions, such as the police, really don't want Joe Public knowing the lock type on the garage or the arrangement of windows at their home.

Yeah your right Tony, I got written permission off a customer for the use of the driveway photo going into the 2011 Marshall's brochure, I also got verbal permission from the customer for the use of another driveway photo what is going in the 2011 Plaspave brochure

google street has changed a lot of the privacy now though as you can zoom in on must properties and see a lot of house detail

We are always looking out for photos of stone for our website. Householders are usually proud to get there project prominently displayed. If we ask the trade for photos, they generally request that we credit the photo with their company name which is fair enough.
