Hey Everybody,

I hope someone here can help me, Its probably a bit late in the year now, but I’m looking to seal my driveway, I had a look at the companies listed on this website and contacted Adseal (Advanced sealing solutions) as they say on their website that they have been independently tested and are proven to be the best. I asked them for proof of this, as obviously I want the best and they were unable to provide the data. When I questioned them further, they sent me this email.

Unfortunately we had an experience where one of our competitors otained the report and then doctored it as if it were about his product. It was very time consuming and costly to stop this so, unfortunately, we no longer send out copies of the report and only leave copies with professional specifiers. We, therefore, generally rely on our reputation & testimonials to do the talking for us - I do hope you understand.

In brief MTC tested our super & ultra against one of the then market leading products which they identified as INS. They then applied our products alongside some competitors products and reported on the relative condition every 3 months over a 12 months period. We attach a brief extract from their conclusions

RESULTS OF THE TEST PROGRAM

When judged against control, only SUPER and ULTRA can be considered to have met the criteria set and thus judged as suitable for purpose.

Of the 8 criteria set in control, INS failed to meet 6 and of the remaining 2, can only be said to have satisfied 1, resistance to lime bloom. Slip resistance on the block paved was unchanged after treatment and on the pattern imprinted concrete it was reduced by the application of the INS coating.

CONCLUSIONS

Both SUPER and ULTRA performed well although the clear leader was ULTRA. The performance of INS is well below that felt to be acceptable.

Some loss of gloss from the coating is inevitable as the surface is trafficked as such contact creates micro abrasions in the resin surface that reduce the ability of the surface to refract light however 12 months after application ULTRA retained a high degree of sheen.

....... Strength of lamination and UV resistance are fundamentally important as without them the coating will have no possibility of achieving the other 6 control features as it will have worn away and this was the basic problem with INS.

I’m afraid it means nothing to me, does anybody understand it? I’ve trawled the web and cannot find any product called INS, has anybody heard of it?

Please Help!!
Baz.

PS Sorry if I have done something wrong or posted this in the wrong place, ive never used a forum before

Hey Sean,

I am far from trying to advertise this product, i can even say i am p****d off!!! Obviously i am looking for the best product to seal with and on their site they say they are proven by independent testers as the best. Obviously with a claim like this I was hoping they would jump at the chance to prove it!!! when i ask for proof they palm me off with this email. I was just asking if this INS was a real product, I phoned marshalls (as that is who i bought my block paving from, and who my contractor recommended i phoned). And they had no idea either. My contractor told me that paving expert might be able to tell me and i stumbled across this forum.

In all honesty i dont really want to seal with Advanced sealing solutions as they are not as forthcoming with their information as i hoped. Both smartseal and Resiblock were very helpful in telling me about the products i even got application details and technical data too!!! Whereas with this Adseal, they seemed to palm me off with an email mentioning companies that dont seem to exist.
All i wanted was the test reports :(

Also im down in kent :) haha

Cheers,

Baz.

A commissioned test is no good anyway, as you just weight the test in all the areas your product is good and don't test the areas it's not so
Good in hence you get a gleaming report, there's that old saying he who pays the piper calls the tune.
