Not surprised that the surge of demand has not materialised. It sounds complicated.pickwell paving wrote:have you done a permeable drive mick? we've priced quite a few but as LLL said they work out so expensive. Heard so many rules bout them like your car wash one, finished paving level must be 600mm above top of footing, can't do it if there are services buried in the drive which is nearly every domestic drive, musn't slope towards road at all, no down pipes must drain onto them or footings must be covered with a dpm and slope away from the house don't know which are true and which are manufacturers covering there backs.

I have been asked to price for 3 but ended up installing conventional block paving as there is always a way round the planning legislation and there is no law what says you have to install permeable block paving
permeable paving can be installed on a sloped driveway but you need to install concrete baffles which without going into detail is not rocket science but put this cost on top of the additional cost of earth removal, cost of the clean 20mm stone sub base and clean 6mm stone laying course what is not available in small quantities from a builders merchants makes your quotation over and above what the customer would like to pay for a new driveway
any edge restraints need to be installed on full height concrete so the 20mm clean stone sub base can't migrate sideways into the existing earth
additional cost to purchase permeable block paving
the list just goes on and on yet you see comments that its only added 5% extra to the cost of having a driveway laid using permeable block paving.......I think they missed the 0 off as its at least 50% more expensive
