I can buy normal proper Indian stone delivered from my local bm for 14/m and take it back if it's crap. So not that much of a bargain.

Fair point though, we can't compete with these companies on price but on the same note they can't compete with us on service, quality, after support etc etc.

One of my regular clients bought some sawn sandstone from us last year and laid it on a project in Hampton. Client came back to him this year and asked him to extend the patio. When my client put the price in the customer tried to drive it down. My client was having none of it and told them to find somebody else to do the job. Up step a Eastern European outfit and hey presto the job gets cussed up. All for the sake of trying to save a couple of hundred pounds. So its a universal thing in all types of business

BTW I know loads of Eastern European mobs who are very good. Check out these attached shots of an installation of one of our stone products by an Eastern European mob, absolutely awesome!

the stone work looks fab,but more Mediterranean weather could be the key
most of the east europeans are good with natural stone as it is common to have marble throughout your communist era flat in downtown Warsaw, Bucharest,Riga etc
stone mason is a very specialist job in the uk

if you look closely at the photo Luton you will see a galvanised steel grating running from left to right at the bottom of the steps

There is a drain which also runs right around the house as well. The guys who owns the house was very clued up about everything and the job was done properly

i dont have a trading address . because my stone is just kept in a secure open yard, i dont have a showroom or shop front etc. As for the landline im always out and about, but i might invest in an 0800 number
yes i keep my stock in north west london were it can be felt and looked at to anyone that wants to have a look.

I got to agree. Last year when I was buying my stone I noticed ispaving after doing a 'nearest' first search on ebay.
Didn't make contact for the same reason.
Also If I remembered rightly the delivery charge bumped the price up but I suppose that's going to be inevitable.
Please don't take this as a dig, just the thoughts from someone not in the trade.
