I am trying to re landscape my small garden at home, and have a small paving area running along the length of a large conservatory.
At present, the slabs slope towards the conservatory, and drain into a 4" wide shingle channel.
I want to remove the shingle when i repave, and replace it with a drainage channel. I am sick of pulling weeds out of the shingle all the time, and it will make it easier to drain water from the surface when i pressure wash .
Problem is, that the shingle is 4" deep, then i hit the concrete footing of the conservatory. I need 5" for the drainage channels.
At the moment. this is 6" below damp, so no room to lift up the paving.
How structural is it if i break out this concrete all the way along??

Acco do a 50mm black plastic channel which is perfect for these jobs and not to pricey either.
Can't see it from my house

Very carefully ;) lay on flat hard surface like concrete, tarmac etc, and then tap away gently untill it pops out. Ive had some of the resin ones crack on me but not the plastic
