went to the local fencing supplier today and as i was stepping off a pile of timber, it gave way, and my foot then started to hurt.
Its not the ankle but my left foot now has a swelling on the side and its bloody painful to walk on it. Anyone else had this before??
I just hope its only a strain, and nothing broken.
time to put me feet up tonight and rest it. (till the morning anyway!)

Foot up and start drinking strong beer, the pain will soon numb.

Tommorrow is another day!

Seriously I'm no expert, leave it to rest overnight and see how it goes........

Been there and got that T-shirt- Ouch!

You could well have a stress fracture! If the pain decreases with rest, but comes back strong with activity, thats probably what you've done.

If its red and swollen on top, you could have ligament damage.

Either way- you need to apply an ice pack and take some anti-inflamatory painkillers (ibuprofen)

Best painkiller for inflamation pain is Ibuprofen.
Packaging says 400mg max per 4 hours. A dentist can prescribe 600mg per 4 hours, your GP has the power to prescribe 800mg per 4 hours (as long as your healthy and not a dwarf).

600mg works way better than 400mg.

You can top it off with the normal maximum dose of Paracetamol as it works in a completely different way.

DONT TAKE ASPIRIN WHEN TAKING IBUPROFEN

I'd go for an xray, though. Plenty of wee bones to break in yer foot. Just ask Beckham :-)

If it hasnt improved significantly in a few days- go see a GP or hospital.

-Michael.

my auld fella nearly died taking ibuprofen,he had a burst ulcer, but as Michael correctly says it is great for swelling type pain,i find it good for toothache.
if it isnt right today go to the hospital dan,but bear in mind if you are not about to die you can be sat there for 3 hours
get well soon mate

Beer is good, well at least it tastes good.
And although I've got no scientific back up ibuprofen is good for hangovers.
So beer at night and ibuprofen during the day. Just don't mix the two at the same time
Get well soon

Bad luck :(

The most complicated joint in the body.
You cant take aspirin and Ibuprofen but you can take paracetamol with Ibuprofen. Paracetamol is 'central nervous' acting, so it will go to the painful but, whereas Ibuprofen is a generalised anti-inflammatory, so it should reduce the swelling. 400mg each 4 times a day usually works for me.
Will be back up in time for Monday :p

Swelling gone down.
