except when you have took a wrong turning while being followed, mount the kerb, run over the grass verge and on the road again leaving the person following you to find an alternative route
joking apart i think its a great looking vehicle but not what i would call a functional work horse, i could not put a pack of block or a bulk bag a MOT/grit sand on the back of it including tools as there is not enough room plus I would be scared to death of scratching the paintwork

Mick you been following me when towing haha, did it the other day . I accidental pulled into a tight cull de sac in tractor and trailer with 8 ton on, had to back out onto the main rd blind haha amazing how no one makes it easy and let's you out accept trucks.
I get 32mpg out of mine going across the peaks every day, do 500 miles a week great car for work and play. Obviously towing kills that but will tow 4 ton easily rd the farm .
Micky just got to treat them like a work vehicle try not to scratch them but if it happens it happens. I have the pop up cover on mine keeps tools dry and still room for a 3 ton breaker etc put restricted to about 16" height.
Used to have l200 warrior the old good shaped one before they ruined it and made it all girly haha. L200 was better off rd but lacked the refinement of the navara.
L200 blew turbo at 45k cost best part of £2500
Navara clutch went 70k cost me close to 2k. Dads clutch went on his navara at 20k but they did it under warranty.
There not really a replacement for the 1.5 ton tippers like the cab star you can get a bulk bag in the bag or a pack of block but they don't like it. Ok once in a while but wouldn't want to be doing it every day.

i reckon those posh pick ups are a nice run about but not really a working vehicle
better than wrecking your car but not as good as a lorry
my mate has a ford transit connect and i am thinking of getting 1 for a runabout,much better on fuel (40-50 mpg) and if its just getting to site theres no need to take the pick up every day

last time I owned a pickup was in 1986, transit twin wheel 2 ton but not a tipper, a good vehicle but with the tools I need on a daily basis i could not fit them in the posers pickup like what your all driving around in

I was not following you Giles, I was following Cookie through Wigan and ended up heading towards the entrance of the multi storey car park, Cookie opted for the easy route and mounted the kerb, over the grass and into the lane heading straight on leaving me to back up and find my own way

i went to doncaster the other week to pick 2 sofas up for my mum off ebay, the woman gave me a postcode put it in sat nav and got there rang her and she was like ohh thats my old address only been here few weeks, was a horrible new build which wasn't on the map. had to do the same straight across the 3 metre wide grass median and back the other way with big twin wheel batesons plant trailer on.
i only have one car, so use my truck for everything and doing 100 miles a day is suites my needs. everything else comes in the lookup contains onto site or its trailers or low loaders for the bigger plant.
i used to have a golf gt tdi, and a old fashioned hilux normal pickup. would do the drive in the golf pick the truck up from the yard etc but got to a point in the winter i was driving the truck more because of snow etc. and i used to drive stupidly fast as young men often do, my boy arriving stopped that.
plus since watching back to the future as a kid always wanted big black pickup. the birds love it as well hahahaahah
but as tony says more a bosses car, the new vans are great now i took the normal size transit to maida vale the other day was at maida vale for 10 mins then back to sheffield with some amps for the arctic monkeys 5 and half hours driving was easy and comfy, sat at 80 no probs, quiet and only 3/4 tank of diesel.
taking a v reg old transit to northern germany on thursday for a festival with a band, not looking forward to that drive, last time we had a brand new sprinter with 6 speed box, air seat, cruise control a real beauty.
