I said it to giles recently that most of my regular work is 95%
to meet budgetary restraints
to get that extra 5% on the finish can cost between 25-50% more and a large number of folk cannot or dont want to pay that much extra for a 5% improvement that only a tradesman would notice
this relates to all aspects of building work not just CBP

I have never done a perfect job in my eyes and hope i never will
If i do its time to retire, but in the mean time we can only strive for it

I am sure 99% of the men on here are the same

Criticism is something you can avoid , by saying nothing and doing nothing

it takes cojones to put yourself in the line of fire

I like that, it took some thinking and liberating over when i posted the pictures of my work.

Alot of my work consists of comprimises that the customer is completley happy with but i stand back and think "if hed of just wanted that doing differentley etc" the job would of been alot better, but they are paying so ther choice....

So at what £60 - £100 a metre that's about right depending on block and region.

I guess you price to your standard of work. I've lost jobs to ppl who cut corners and compromise, I'd rather not get the work, then risk man or machine etc because someone doesn't want to pay for sheet pilling etc.

Doing the works the easy bit at the moment it's pricing and getting the work that seems hard.

Don't take it as criticism... When you posted the photos you have allowed many eyes to pass on advice on what they see. The comments are not based on a general look and more focused on detail. Most posters on here have a great eye for detail hence why they give best advice on fine tuning your work.
It sounds like you work alone

Absolutly fansinating, That post was better than eastenders. All I can say on it is this, The guy who posted the pictures really believed he was making a good job or he would not have put the pictures on for everyone to see. The guys on here who look for the perfection, this paving work stands out to them. I am no expert on paving but have done a handfull of paving jobs, I would have picked up on the darts and not screeding the entire area as my only grievance but the rest looks ok, shoes, coffee cups, rubish and mixers will not be there forever mind

Give this guy his due, it took bol***cks to post pictures on here and even more to defend his critics, I think he done a better job of defending his work than his actual work, having said that apart from the darts the job isnt the worst ive seen, and when the job is complete and landscaped, it will look 100 times better. Please post a picture of the finished job mate.
