Connecting drain to guttering downpipe

Foul and surface water, private drains and public sewers, land drains and soakaways, filter drains and any other ways of getting rid of water.

I'd like to add two small drains to catch water which is collecting on my monoblock, near the side of the house. At both points there is a guttering downpipe - is it possible to just connect a small drain to the downpipe ?

I'd rather not have to lift the entire monoblock area, and wonder if lifting 3 or 4 blocks to give enough access to put a small plastic drain connected directly to the downpipe would work and be an acceptable way to drain the surface water ?

Thanks,

Alistair C.
