the thing i find unnerving about splitting blocks is that you have to undercut the block to make sure it fits
obviously this can lead to unseen fractures
although stihl saws are environmentally unfriendly ,the cuts are neat and you know the cut is uniform

I have owned a probst block cutter with multi teeth for 14 years and the finish is not good enough for me hence why I use a Stihl TS410 saw, I lay all my paving on a 45 degree angle and lay mainly the tumbled finish or argent paving and using a block splitter the finish is very average as when I look down the line of the border its got to be perfectly straight and not look like a dogs hind leg

if your cutting blocks in half then yeah its passable
The multi teeth cutter is for clay paviors, not designed for concrete blocks.I have one and does not give a great cut on concrete MSH :)

as hawk said its down to experience and the person on the cutter as to what cut you can achieve, we've got some splitters just over 20 years old a lot cheaper long term than new stihls, blades and fuel

When I purchased my block splitter from new it was bob on. It could cut 200x100mm blocks correctly at 45o all day long. But now it’s old and worn it struggles, so it only gets used for half’s and Tegs. A few years ago I treated it to new blades, but they were never as good as the original ones. so I bought a stihl saw!

No one else using a clipper saw? You can easily argue that cutting blocks with a stihl is a potential saftey hazard, i do use one too but not for individual cuts, cant beat the clipper its accuarate to a mm

I alsonhave a makita chop saw that takes a stihl blade, it is brilliant but originally made to cut metal. Its a great tool for cutting pavers. I dont know why no one has ever made one officially
