"Merkins" is how Big Chief Dubya refers to his minions - he keeps rattling on about the "Merkin Peepul" and the "Merkin Homeland". He refers to this side of the Atlantic as "Yurp"!!! ;)

Luddites are named after Ned Ludd, an 18th Century worker who led a revolt against mechanisation/industrialisation of the textile industry as it was seen as machines replacing workers. It's now used to describe those who resent or oppose "progress" in modern industry.

Not just paving, but World Affairs and Social History, too! :)

Thanks Tony,

Excellent explanation!

I recall your saying something like "don't go all Dubya
on me" in responce to a post. Now I have a little history
to go by.

I get a real kick out of learning these new terms. I even tried out a few of them today on some unsuspecting Merkins.

Keep em coming,
Charlie

Metric is so much better and easier to calculate. Even more frustrating for us in the US is that many of the patents for block are imported from Canada, so a lot of the molds are metric based, like Celtik Wall is 90 and 135mm, for instance.

Landscape Mann, sounds like you are installing EP Henry. You didn't buy it from Stonehenge Gardens by chance, did you?

Paverman Dan,
You are correct on the EP Henry for the wall blocks and caps. The pavers came from Hanover. I buy my stone products from Harting and Sons. Excellent supplier.
What part of the US to you call home?

Pennsylvania.

Hanover makes nice stuff. Their architectural slabs are near the tops. EP Henry is definitely making themselves known in the Mid-Atlantic. I recognized it from the "dakota" color.

Don't get to Maryland much, but have heard of Harting and Sons, and heard good things.

Good luck with your project!
