How to bond gravel

Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

Had a phonecall from a lady who recently had a patio laid. Contractor used gravel in the gaps as opposed to pointing. Lady likes the look of the gravel but does not like the mess when gravel overspills. Is there any resin product on the market that you could pour over the gravel to make it stick together? Or is is a case of cementing the gravel in place?

Its only a small patio at the back of her garden so she's not too concerned about water etc

cheers

Hi, I have used a diluted render bond to bond gravel in a couple of areas in my garden

It's all covered on the main site, resin bound and bonded and exposed aggregate techniques. Also there was a thread not long ago about recessed trays and gravel, consensus of opinion was to trowl the gravel into a strong sbr mix.

we had 350m2 of addagrip installed over a 30mm 6 mm sma overlay
the tarmac was £3.5k and i think the resin was about 7k but this was in 2002
it was a small carpark and still looks good to this day and is used daily

There isn't a "pour over the gravel" solution.

You either apply wet resin adhesive to the surface and cast the aggregate on top (resin bonded), or mix the resin with the stones and lay with a trowel (resin bound).

For information see Ronacrete Resin Bonded and Resin Bound systems
