Love the site,

The weather seems to be going back to normal, Wet! and we need to get new waterproofs in.

What waterproofs do people recommend for hard landscaping?

We've all got full sets of helly Hansen waterproofs in hi viz orange and yellow, better to have 2 pairs of pants though. Then I keep a few old ski type jackets behind the seats or in the brew cabin for those really miserable days when your in it that long that even waterproofs get drenched.

First post from work, sat in my tractor waiting for my lad to finish loading me, new iPhone 4 :)

Ours are standard ARCO crap. Damned if you do, damned if you don't, either way you end up drenched.

Got to wait a month and a half before I can have new boots, my old ones are more like steel toed sandals now

I splashed out about £100 on a coat from the local outdoors shop. It has lasted a year and now its not waterproof. when i complained, they said, after a while they loose thier waterproofing.
Nothing you can do about it, except buy another one!

i find berghaus to be pretty good warmth and water resistant wise
tried craghopper trousers for a while but they only last 3 months so back to jeans now
if its a shower i dont bother ,and if it rains hard i get out of it
cant lay in the heavy rain anyway

started in the building game in 1977 when I left school,
if there was a drop of rain everbody ran to the brew cabin,
if was a wet morning and still raining at about 11.30 everyone got rained off for the day, how things have changed no such thing as a rain off anymore especially on site

14 hour days ,working in the rain
its like Dickensian London in here.

lifes too short to die from pneumonia Giles

and believe me i have done it,working as a banksman in the tipping rain as the digger driver sits in his nice warm cab with the radio and a flask of coffee

light showers or misty rain we crack on ,but proper rain destroys brickwork
any time you see a lot of efflorescence you can nearly guarantee that the bricks were laid in the rain,

i see these lads in the pub all the time ,50 yrs old ,deaf ,bent double,on disability money because their back is ruined
no medals for them
when i was brickwork subbying if the ganger saw a cloud in the sky we got rained off, we nicknamed him "raincloud"
working for myself i have lost maybe 1 week in 17 year due to rain ,but myself dan and MSH live in a very dry part of the country
I hear it rains a lot in gods country???? NW??
