ive brushed cement in to the cracks after being instructed to by top mix before and it looked bloody awful at first as the cement was the dark grey colour and the concrete was white, in the end we cut into some left over concrete repeatadley to make loads of dust and brushed that in - perfect

looks like the fibre expansion material, shame they didn;t read the section on here about leaving it 30mmbelow surface and then arissing edge and finally sealing with a mastic sealer.

think you are right dam doesn;t look like a fresno broom, the wife's sweeping brush

some of those cracks are 100/150mil deep haveing pushed a bit of wire into them, the area on the left with the plastic sheet, i actually sprayed with water for 6 hours after they had gone, that was also cracking, untill i sprayed it, what concerns me is the contractor says he is going to sand/grind it all down to get rid of the high points( were the joints are and what i call the 'mapping' ) what sort of finish can i exspect, and i think the cracks should be filled in with some sort of apoxy/resin before the winter, because when water freezes it expands, by the way this was all done by a proper(ahem) paving/drive company, my personal opinion is ' pour concrete? they could'nt pour a cup of tea ...

hmm i agree, as to the finish after grinding it will be flat and smooth 'ish' and not realy the finish you want on a driveway, tbh the finish of work looks shoddy to me.

Did the contractor place any sub base and compact it? Could be it was laid on loose material and they are settlement cracks. The grinding he is on about is most probably a scabbling/planner tool, sand/grit blasting would be to expensive. Whatever overlay he does, the cracks will still appear in the same place. Arris edges should of been added, the edges now will probably start chipping off, as straight edges are a weakness.

Hi, yes they did put and compact the base, would you say in your opinion that this sanding he intends to carry out is an acceptable finish for a drive? and yes you are right , the edges gave started to chip off already , thats after 2weeks, phew . I am not too happy at all, I feel like saying rip the whole lot up and do the job properlyit is not the finish stated on the quote, as in ..'brush finish arriss trowel edges'...trand

its industry standard to bullnose the edges, and if this guy has stated in his quote "arriss edges" which i presume is the same thing, and he hasn't done it, then this needs addressing.
Why does it have to have a brushed finish like that? Its a level drive so it should be okay as far as grip is concerned.

i always brush finish concrete driveways, looks neeat and tidy.

And trand, no the finish after grinding is not acceptable for a diveway IMO.
