i got caught out in aberdeen a few years ago
was sitting in the pub drinking and the bell went
"sheesh i said to me uncle,its 10 to 11 and its still broad daylight"
he said "you numpty ,its 10 to 12"
the pubs there have always been 12 o'clock shut down apparently

I was on fishing trip up in the Highlands last weekend. We climbed up to some lochs above my mates house and fished for trout through both nights while necking whisky then slept it off during the day. It was a great trip the sun was only just below the horizon for a couple of hours then we climbed to the summit to watch it rise. It sends poeple mad up in the far north they get strung out by constant daylight messing up the bodyclock. Pubs close early on saturdays which can catch you out.

i went to iceland and northern finland both time near the winter solstice
it is an amazing feeling getting up at 10 and its pitch black outside then it gets dark again by 2 in the afternoon
as you say pablo throws your body clock haywire
i was getting paraletic by 5 PM most days,when the locals dont go out till 10

I'm not up on stars and planets LLL so I couldn't tell you.

It was to the west/south west of me, that's about all I know

stars twinkle and are white,planets dont twinkle and are off white

Venus is now very prominent in the evening sky after sunset in the west north-west and, this month, is highest in the sky after sunset. At magnitude -4.1, it will be easily spotted - the brightest object in the night sky after the Moon. With an angular size of 16arc seconds as July begins and increasing to 18.7 arc seconds by month's end, it will appear in a telescope as a well illuminated disc like the Moon around first quarter. It is an interesting fact that Venus's brightness remains pretty constant at ~ -3.8 to -4 all the time that it is visible. As it nears the Earth, it become a thin crescent, but the fact that it is then much nearer to us means that the effective reflecting area remains virtually constant in apparent size.
