just completed a patio with the help of cookie and co and it was pointed using Easypoint, its a very good product and easy to apply using the gun which you also purchase from Easypoint

Image

the mastic style gun is perfect for getting the jointing compound deep into the joint with no mess or staining plus your not on your hands and knees all day pointing with traditional sand and cement and it goes firm within 30 - 40 minutes ready to point or joint so its perfect if you endure a light shower and will not be damaged or splatter all over the paving flags like what would happen if you used a sand and cement mixture

Image

what did concern me though was I told them the area to be pointed and the size and depth of the flags and the width of the joints and was told I would need 18 bags....huh 18 bags, I said i could not see me brushing the volume of 18 bags of cement into the joints let alone 18 bags of easypoint

I was going to take 10 bags but was told I can't return any unused which is fair enough so I settled for 8 bags and the gun as I was only working 8 miles from where they are based and could easily call for more if they was required

we only used 4 and a half bags of the stuff when I was told it would take 18 bags, I would of been banging the Easypoint door down at 8am the following day if I had 13 full bags over demanding a refund......................grrrrrrr

well in fairness mick the last job i did i gave them the area 65M 2,joint width and depth 12 mm and 35mm and they told me 8 bags,i ordered 10 to be safe and had 3 left over so they were near enough bang on for me
that was 450 by 450 saxons and a bag did 10M 2 approx

the stuff that was left is great for pointing in tight gaps, like when you install a USB and you have a 10 mm by 102 gap above it.
takes ages with a trowel but 5 minutes with easipoint

I do find that every now and again you get a fail load where the gun seems stuck and you just have to empty it and start again

great stuff though

he he my snicker shorts were a bit tight so had to use the summer swimming shorts nice and bright to save me getting mistaken by a japanese whaling ship :p have to say was very impressed with the gun and product just a little bit more water than on instructions and it flows very well i wont use own mix for paving slab pointing again even on york stone deep joints i would build up with bedding material enjoyed our few days working with mick g and co. ps came home to boxes of marshalls mags and folders am now on there register for approved driveway contractors but am targeting there natural stone products.am happy to leave the block paving to the specialists :;):

Cookie,

On the paving at Alderley Edge, what have you used for the border/edging? Also, is the paving random pattern? Excellent job.

i use there guns but have never bought there pointing mix. does it stain if you get any drops off the end of the gun as you walk to the next joint? and is it cement based?

no and the good thing about it is the pointing is hard within an hour so it can withstand rain the same day

if you use a traditional sand and cement mixture its the morning after when its cured and would be destroyed with the rain the same day, and it would be splashed over the flags

my mistake with the thread title, it should be easipoint not easypoint, could you change it Luton :)
