i want to put paving slabs down in a area of 20 feet by 18 feet out back garden, intend to use part of it for a path is there any particular size or slab i should use and what should i put them down on sand , mortar etc even to fill them in

The slabs are a personnel choice what ever you think look the best for you. It doesnt matter what size if it is only for pedestrian traffic.
