Seal it first or not?

Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

Few years ago i built a new garage based on a concrete slab. Unfortunately when i tamped the concrete, i left some prety deep lines and ridges in it.
Ive decided now to get a nice smooth render on it with some mortar. The concrete was never sealed (always dusty obviously!), should i seal it before i apply the render or lay it on as-is?? and screed off.

when you say render it ,do you mean screed it?
this screed would have to be quite thick to take the weight of a car, also you would have to add stuff to strengthen it
are you sure about this?

l Agree with Tony here. You don't render concrete floors as you will end up with even more dust than you have already. I would imagine you have laid the concrete to a finished level so i doubt if you have room for a screed floor. I'd give it a hell of a clean first removing any loose material, repair it with a good resin like sika and then seal the hell out of it :;):

No not realy......
Its not going to be used as its origonal purpose anymore, that is, for a car which is a good thing. I wanted realy to get rid of those deep tamping ridges, yes just screed it off. Those ridges are the bugbear of my life now, there unsightly, rough to walk on and hold loads of dust and dirt. Im not that worried about increasing the height.
Not being all that well up on this stuff, seems theres abit more to it than meets the eye.
Thanks for the input btw.
