I aim to pave 30 sqm using a mixtiure of Ravenna, Camel Dust and Mint Indian Sandstone.
I'm using 600x300 flags in a basic zig-zag pattern. I already have 10 sqm of mixed flags.
I'm getting delivery of 8 sm each of Ravenna and Camel Dust and 4 of Mint on Friday.
I just checked the Camel Dust flags - I have just 6 as a sample - and they are all 600x290. All of the other 50 odd flags I have are 600x300.
I wouldn't mind a few mils out - but 10mm at least seems OTT?
Is this a dud batch -and should I cancel if they can't provide 600x300?

welcome to the world of injun sandstone wiggy
its an art in itself making this stuff look right
i have had the same batch of little uns and some are 290 by 290 and some are 310 by 310 and some are 310 by 290
i guess they start off with the big ones and if they break it it goes to a smaller one then finally it goes to the little uns
which i am guessing the kids do
its your shout but nothing surprises me sizewise anymore

Wiggy
First thing I would say is dont knock the 600x290. Knock the 600x300 because whoever has supplied you the 600x300 is in the wrong. The sizes of Indian sandstone are designed so that if you do opt for a random patio, all the stones will fit together and leave a 10mm pointing gap.
Lets say you purchased a random mix in the following sizes:
900x600
600x600
600x300
300x300
You could fit them all together without any issues but there would be no pointing gaps. When purchasing 600 series Indian stone as opposed to 560 series then the actual sizes should be:
900x600
600x600
600x290
290x290
the above sizes would allow for nominal pointing gap of 10mm. If you have bought the stone from different suppliers then one of them has got their sizing wrong.
So in answer to your questions its not a dud batch. Whether you send them back is up to you, but the 600x290 are certainly not duds.
Also LLL your certainly right about the problem with the child labour over in India but it is much more widespread in sandstone cobbles than paving. Not too say it does not exist in paving but cobbbles are the big one for child labour.
