well this is a new one on me.
Got a JCB beaver hydraulic power pack, and it keeps conking out.
Tried a new carb. No joy.( i should point out it is powered by a honda engine)
Rang my local place where i buy all my kit, and they won't touch it as they are not jcb dealers.
Rang my local JCb , and they said they would look at it.
they had it 3 weeks, and rang to say they have diagnosed it as an ignition module problem. but they cannot repair it as they cannot get honda spares!!
So hang on, jcb make the machine but cannot repair it, and a honda dealer cannot repair it as they are not jcb ???
I fitted a new module myself, £85, and guess what. It still conks out!!
Any ideas on what it can be??

check the oil alert switch and connection, might be telling engine its short off oil may also be a bad connection on the off and on switch
Never heard so much shit about they cannot get parts, honda parts are off the shelf stuff so are beaver parts from jcb no restrictions on buying them I've had beavers for 10 years never had any problem getting parts for them

I did in fact disconnect the oil alert, and the stop switch all together, and it still did the same thing!!

When it conks out, is it a DEAD cut or does it fart and falter to a stop? Do you get any power loss before it cuts?

is coughs and splutters. As soon as i engage the breaker, it conks out straight away. If i manually throttle it, it coughs and then dies, and it takes several pulls to re-start it, often on choke.

Ah so definitely a fuel problem Dan, without doubt.
Tank clear? Delivery pipework clear and unobstructed?
I can't think of much else that could do this Dan. We've got three Beavers and they've been faultless.

have you tried a swift smack on the fuel tank with a club hammer or your boot?
it might not work but you will feel better
LLL
i gave it a good kicking yesterday after i got it off the truck, all the way round the back of the house and then realised it wouldn't run!
I think it must be fuel too dave, but have resigned to taking it to a dealer (who i had to persuade that it was just a honda engine problem).
am on hols next week, so will report back any findings!
