Hi, I have a 70sq meter area which is currently concrete flagged I want to replace the finish I do not need 'kerb appeal'. We are a bit strapped for cash so real stone is proving to be too expensive so concrete blocks are looking favourite. We are quite self sufficient and very capable but have never layed blocks before. Some people have said it is so easy and others have said they would't touch it. The area is slopped and will have been harcored and compacted ready for the finish. Any ideas on reasonable materials would be great, and has any laymen laid the blocks before. If I get a contractor how much should I be looking at it costing per sq m to lay the blocks if I don't do it myself. Here's in hope. Thanks in advance ???

This site is the best for people like you. All the information you need to complete and make it look like a pro did it, is in the main index. i suggest you read it in depth, then feel free to pick our brains. Although all my brain is good for is keeping my ears apart, it is a complete vacuum in between

realistically in staffs you would be looking at around £3.5-4 k for that area, depending on multiple factors
if time is of no consequence to you and your labour is free you could attempt it yourself but its highly likely to take forever ,cost as much as getting a pro in,however you will have the satisfaction of doing it yourself
