Hi my names John, this is my first post on this forum, i am starting on my house front and driveway in a diy fashion, i will only be able to do it over weekends and so no dout i will be pestering you guys for all the advice you can give me.

Rite here goes, let me try to explain, basicaly i have a semi, looking from the pavement mine is the right hand side house. i have a front garden, 4 metres from pavement to house and drive extending all the way down the side of the house.

I got my laser level, marked some points and found that from pavement flag height to 150mm below damp course there is a difference of 130mm, sloping towards my house.

i plan to rip up the unsightly front garden and the existing concrete drive and block pave the lot.

am i right in thinking that i would be best to install a linear drain right the way across the front of my house and drive?

if this is right what happens to the step i want building up? do i put the drain around the base of the new step or can the drain run under the step?

i hope i have been clear enough, sorry if i seem raw, i have never had anything to do with ground works before.

i look forwar to hearing from you. john.
