I have just started digging out the ground for a circular patio (diameter 2.5M). We were initially going to only use sharp sand mixxed with cement as the base for the slabs. However we are now not sure if we need to place a hardcore subbase beneath this as the soil underneath is clay. The patio is not going to receive daily traffic, as it is at the top of our garden. So will only have a table and chairs on for use probably once a week.
Any help would be appreciated.
