I have just been reading the jointing and pointing section of the website for flags, and since I seem to be having to do more flag laying jobs, I would like to know what is preferred for pointing.
I used wet mortar in the past but it seems to be impossible to avoid some staining, not to mention rediculously time consuming. I've also used Geofix but I've heard mixed reports on this.
I would like to try the dry mix method - in the dry grouting section it says "4:1 mortar mix" - I presume this is using building sand?

Yep - building sand is normally used for pointing any joints over 12mm or less. For wider joints, you can use building sand or grit/sharp sand, as you see fit.
