Typical. Get busy with plenty of work booked in and quotes going out and trap a nerve at the base of my back
Tried doing a bit this morning and was back at home within an hour and being bank holiday non of the phsio places are open till Tuesday.
Anybody got any tips to relieve the pain other than lying on the floor and hobbling round the house?

i can feel your pain ratty as I have had a bad back on and off for 28 years and i was taught this at the hospital
lie on your back and whilst pulling your stomach muscles tight lift your right leg in the air and count 1 - 5 as you raise your leg up - then 5 -1 as you lower it back down again, do the same for the left leg and continue for as long as you can with each leg but keep your stomach muscles tight each time
I have also tried the Chinese medical centre, acupuncture and heat lamps worked or just the massage works too as they get all the knots out of your back muscles which sort of puts everything back in line again
you have to grit your teeth whilst going through the pain barrier as they need with their fingers and thumbs places and touch soft tissue on your spine that have never been touched before
years and years ago doctors advised to rest but now its keep moving otherwise you seize up

just had a back problem myself.
Was a shooting pain down my leg, caused by the muscles tightening around the sciatic nerve.
Went to see a reflexologist/masseur/aromatherapist, and the first session, little difference. Apparently all my back muscles were tight.
After the second session, not much better, but by the third, great, and i could sleep at night.
I have been 10 times now, and instead of weekly, its monthly.
The last visit, i did not feel any pain from the tweaking, and the session was only 45mins instead of an hour.
Whatever treatment you get, don't expect an overnight cure. Its a long road to recovery.
I did mine in, lifting a ball of concrete onto the lorry. never again!
I feel for you, and best of luck!

Thanks for the advice guys.
can put up with the pain to an extent its the frustration of being immobile thats worse than anything and not been able to pick up the baby when he's crying.
Not good at not 'doing' but i guess ill have to learn for a short while lol
Sadly theres a lot of people a lot worse off than myself

Finally joined your club at ripe old age of 59 - as LLL, thought I'd got away with it all my life - young horse, no warning, leapt forwrd - whiplash.....
GP useless - script for painkillers...
Just back from local physio - (£48.50 = 1.5hrs ) - trapped nerve evidently - forefinger totally numb - I thought it was shoulder, no, it's in your neck.
Lovely tiny 40 yr old feisty scottish woman gave some severe punching with heat & a trickle electricity - bloody marvellous. Told me to lie on rolled-up mag under spine for 10mins every day.
Feel for you ratty - yours must be lower back?:(

Sorry to hear that Suggers.
Woudnt wish it on anyone, especially the mobile self, employed amongst us. Suprising how quickly it starts to hit the pocket!
Turns out mine isnt a trapped nerve but a bruised/damaged disc near the bottom of the back which is irritating the nerves. All stems down to twisting slightly whilst bending down pointing the front of a house. Didnt even feel it!
Just goes to show guys and gals be very careful!
