Hi
last night at 2 am i had yet another brick chucked at my house no damage to any thing apart from my sons car this is the second time this has happened now..

Last time my window was put in on my car and they could not even get the brick to just break that it also put a nice dent in the body work.

Be for you ask and assume as far as i am concerned, no i have not pi55ed any one of yes i dont get on well with one of my neighbours but thats it, we have reported it yet again to the police and they say they can do nothing.

The only option we have is cctv or some thing alike , any suggestions welcome as to a good one or a way of getting this sorted, and i am talking about within the law of the land only !!

many thanks for any help and suggestions

cheers simon

if you think you know who it is talk to them, try and find out what the problem is
has your son p!ssed anyone off, its more common than you would think, love rivals etc etc
TBh lads that dent cars and that are cowards ,I knew a bloke who used to do stuff like that and it was because he was sneaky and underhand,he didnt have the bottle for a face off

do you live in a mixed area? i.e. private homes and housing association, social?
i used to live on an estate like that and it caused friction

Costco are doing a very good 4-camera system for around 300 quid. It's on special offer after the 22nd. I was thinking of getting one for the mother's place, just as an added deterrent.

I think legally they have to be on show or you have to have a sign saying there are cameras filming, you also have to set them so they do not overlook neighbouring boundary lines.

It depends if you end up trying to use the film as evidence in a court, you can leave yourself wide open for a counter case on privacy laws

You don't need to have signs up if you are using cctv to monitor domestic premises, only if you are a firm. It also doesn't matter if the cameras pick up people on the highway, as long as the main reason is to view people on your land (which, if they're throwing bricks they may not be).

I have had quite a few instances of bricks through the windows, and air rifle damage. Its important to get a crime number from the police for every incident, even if there is no measurable damage done - it messes up their end-of-year figures!

I have some cameras on view, and some which are not so obvious. However if you want to produce evidence in court, you need a picture in which the miscreant's face takes up most of the image, which is difficult to do unless you have pan, tilt and zoom, and are prepared to sit and monitor it, or the oik stands in the same place every time.

The problem with cameras that have built in IR LEDs is that the LEDs tend to give up long before the cameras, and you then have to replace the whole unit. I've also found that proper camera housings seem to be a bigger deterrent than bullet cameras.
