Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

has anyone out there any contacts for the supply of fly ash, i aware that it comes from the power stations, but was wondering if anyone had any contacts before i go looking elsewhere??

Not a contact as such, but you can get it from Fiddlers Ferry between Widnes and Warrington, Noony.

When it was the old CEGB, we used to collect it from there occasionally, but now it's all owned by some forrin company, I wouldn't know who to speak to.

i have a feeling they used to use it for mortar ,all the mortar and plaster in my house is black and well flaky,its basically like ash and sand :(

Bison before they went under used ash in their concrete, lot of precast concrete has ash in it.

What sort of mix are you planning to use for the cobbles? I always used a relatively weak mix, summat around 8:1 as the PFA acts as a cement.

We did a job in Southport once using PFA, lime and silver sand to form the bed mortar.

yeah were planning on the ash being the 'cement' if you like, as the traditional way is looking like the preference
