Top this...car gave up on way to work monday, ( engine cooked says rac, ) walk 35 minutes each way to work rest of the week. Tuesday, phone gave up on me, had to buy a new one. Wednesday, electric toothbrush packed up, had to buy a new one. Had a stinking heavy cold all week, then hiatus hernia played up. Train, tube etc home last night 4 hours. Now tucked up in bed ( unheard off ever ) feeling sorry for myself Good thing about it....no shopping

sorry to hear that rab and my thoughts are with you
makes me loosing my thumb nail this week sound like a soft ba***rd, I stubbed it on a block wall about 6 weeks ago and it nearly brought tears to my eyes, it was growing itself off my thumb and had to remove the half that was not attached anymore last Sunday
the bit that was still attached i kept catching it each time i put my hand in my pocket and had knocked the nail more than 5 times in a couple of hours so I had to manually rip it off whilst still attached to the flesh on Tuesday evening
its amazing how much you use you thumb or the side of your thumb, its that sore i can't even hold a lighter in my right hand to strike the flint

I've lost two nails over the last two years just like that Mick; having to rip it off myself while it's still attached, like. Painful as hell.
Lost the last one while rolling up a surface course on a driveway, caught it between the roller handle and a fence - I had to carry on rolling otherwise we'd loose the drive. One of my most painful 30 mins of my life.

When my owld fellah knew he was on the way out with just 6 weeks to live, he did a deal with the local undertaker who was a drinking buddy of his: he laid him a new patio in exchange for a discounted funeral.rab1 wrote:pre booked my dads funeral today which was a bit of a downer but at least it sounds better than the week you boys had.
He loved the idea of getting interred for as little as possible. If the boneyard would have let us, me and our kid would have dug the hole, and been proud to do so.

A barman in one of the pubs my auld fella drank, always had a face like a wet weekend. My dad hated him. When my dad was dying the barman was brought in and put in the bed opposite. Dad went mad saying: " I've got to spend my last days on earth looking at your f*****, miserable face, i'm glad i s****** your wife. Glad he went before my dad

about 10 years ago I hit my finger with a hammer and over night it felt like it was going to explode with the pressure and I asked the wife if she would heat a needle up on the hob and pierce my nail but she could not bring herself to do it, and i could not push hard enough
I had to go to the hospital and the nurse had some special hand held device what heats up in seconds and the feeling of relief is wonderful when the little bit of blood that comes out of the nail and the pain goes instantly
