Motor Cycle Anchor

I am fitting block paving to replace the concrete that has started to crack and deteriorate. I also want to fit an anchor for my motorbike to help ensure, it stays mine. How can I adequately anchor into what will essentially be loose bricks ?

The trick is to create an anchor block below the block paving.

I have a drawing somewhere for the anchor block we constructed for a client a few years back - I'll try to difg it out later. Basically, it's a generous portion of concrete set into the sub-base with a inverted "U" of galvanised or powder-coated projecting upwards, through the bedding layer and the block paving. You have to do a bit of fiddly cutting-in around the anchor point, but it's not all that tricky.

I have to go out now, but when I get back this evening, I'll root about in the cad archive to find the drawing which shows the idea quite clearly, I seem to recall.

Anyway, here's a slightly tidied up screengrab from the drawing I mentioned...



...by using a block of concrete that's roughly 450mm x 450mm, you have a significant weight deterrent, but because that underlies the block paving, with is locked together (hopefully) by the jointing sand, you've more than doubled the pull resistance of the anchor.

Nothing there a good set of bolt croppers couldn't deal with <g>

...but how do you carry the bolt croppers while riding away on the bike? ;)
