just like the site cabin, log on with a cold beer and then chill for an hour. one thing i do like is: theirs no idiots/arseholes as a general rule. ok you get the odd fanny, the twat that threatened the boss springs to mind but as a general rule that dont happen here.

Don`t really see the point in it myself, ive swapped PMs with several regulars and that seems to work fine.

Besides i would be the fool bad mouthing some newby behind closed doors, who then turned out to be a decent bloke and serial poster with full access to my drunken ramblings

I was/am still in favour of a Contractor Only area, only for the benefit that has been pointed out previously - pricing hints and tips etc that we wouldn't want the general public to see etc and NOT to take the piss out of newbies etc.

PM's are great but the 'group' in question doesn't benefit - we could learn of each other somewhat.

I thought the idea of an open forum was to give frree info' and advice to joe public, diyers etc; the reason the brew cabin works, is because they can easily source the readily available Information given on the index thanks to the gaffer and also the contractors, not to mention hard working, experienced, professionals that choose to work for construction companies, who in turn pay good wages for Their expertise.

the information given in the cabin is voluntary. I enjoy advising someone on how, or how not to do sOmething. Contractors don't have to give information on pricing etc: an inner circle gives the impression of the freemasons, or worse ( he says jokingly ) the k k k, lol. Have you read orwells animal farm?

yeah but your all missing the point and getting carried away its just a area where you can discuss pricing jobs etc sourcing work etc thats is of no valid interest to joe public/diyer. its not like we all will stop answering questions etc it just a place to discuss ideas that would be of benefit to virtual friends on here to improve their business thats not on general view to the public or anyone else lurking who doesn't contribute etc

i`ve said it before and i`ll repeat myself now. i dont know nor care how much paving/tarmac costs as i`m not a paving contractor but will try ho help someone with the easy questions. at work i`ve access to the costs/quotes we receive from suppliers/subbies and there's no way in hell i would give this information out on a public forum and i dont expect you lads to do the same.

i was thinking more advertising statergies, sources of work good ideas etc that you might not want to share with joe public but would be happy to share with the good set of lads we have on here, pricing is pricing thats what makes your business its the other bits.

Sounds like nobodys that keen on it then - the behind closed doors inner sanctum effect.
As a non contractor / supplier, I thought it was an ok idea.
