Another rompox thread

After years of using Geofix I have finally come to the conclusion that it is not all that it says it is,It would seem it rots after time and obviously becomes an issue.
I had a rep round pushing Rompox before christmas and I said then I was up for a change and that time has come, so a few questions if I may, the Easy stuff? is it good enough? obviously the stuff you mix yourself is better but is it a big enough difference to make it worthwhile and is it as simple as they say?
I have read the Product study but would like to hear a little more before I choose which one to use.
so, which one would/do you use and why?

I have around 90 sq/m of indianstone with a nautical star circle pack and around 500 100mm cobbles in a double border with pointing Gaps around 20-25mm wide and 25-30mm deep.

I'm surprised that you still use the stuff,i knocked it on the head after 6 months of failing joints in patios

rompox dran or d 1 is the bees knees that's the one we used on knutsford job take a look on my weblink.clean mixer do what it says on the bag big tip use a timer for components you will be surprised how long two sets of 3 minutes are don't rush i found a stiff brush to finish of is best soft one later.just need to say the shiny finish soon wears of give me a bell if you need any more info knutsford was 580m2 plus :;): ??? ps first sweegi

Easy is fine for patios but given there is so little in the cost, I usually plump for the D1 or the Drain commercial grades.

cheers guys,I was thinking much the same tony, there doesn't seem much in it pricewise.

@LLL I was only aware of rompox a month or so ago, before that I had tried the Cementone version but that was poorer than Geofix,I don't use it that often as my main work is private driveways but I have definitely been dubiouds of Geofixs qualities for some time now.

A Local builders merchants has been trying to shift its massive stock of Buff Geofix for some time now at much discounted prices...It always makes me chuckle when they ask if I am interested.

stunning work there Cookie,mightily Impressed. whenever I have done similar cobbling I have pitch sealed with bit.
I hate pitch sealing.....to damn messy. I always knew that Geofix wouldn't be up to the job but obviously Rompox is a genuine alternative.

Pitch needn't be messy. It can be slow and neat or fast and messy. I watched a 400m² sett pavement be pitch jointed in 5 days last October and it looks stunning. The biggest problem is time spent melting down the damn blocks of sett-pitch....



...they had 3 boilers on the go from 7 in the morning and two lads doing the sealing.

Just been googling to find D1 and Drain stockists so I can compare prices with Easy but not getting many hits.
Anyone know of any stockists that do mail order of D1 and Drain?

strange thing though, when I spoke with him he implied Rompox was there 'Own Brand' Obviously I may have got him wrong but that is deffo what he left me thinking.

suprise,suprise!,BH landscapes have been on the phone today, they did indeed tell me they were promoting their 'own brand' unfortunately the bit I got wrong was it wasn't Rompox.

they previously sold Rompox for several Years but Rompox Priced themselves out of the market(his words)
they do now have there own brand Nexus

AFAIk its the exchange rate that has caused problems with cost,which is more to do with our bankers,than romex

well,due to the phonecall I say they are obviously reading all this but I have nothing to hide, he said they used to buy direct but then were forced to buy from middlemen in Ireland which bumped up the price so decide to make there own.....sounds fair enough to me but I have never been one for politics, I got a quote from them today and will be ringing Romex Ray tomorrow.

They used to buy from a previous licensee, not direct, and now they have to buy from the new licensees, who are based in Ireland.
