Hi lads just a quick question.
I have been offered about 6 months work starting in March the only problem is i would have to become self employed. The thing is i dont know anything about self employment, so could do with some good advise.
Dont follow my footsteps i walk into walls.

first decide if you want to be a sole trader etc.. You can use a tool on the hmrc website called The Employment Status Indicator. this will help you figure out what status to work under. Also go on to the business link web site for a lot more info.

speak to an accountant who deals with sole traders/builder types
I own a limited company which employs me for the princely sum of £100 per week,the rest of my money then gets paid as a dividend
its important to utilise tax avoidance (not tax evasion)
as the accy says " you pay more tax than most premiership footballers"
