I
took me about 8 days. dug out a midi skip and a builders skip of material by hand, and had to barrow all the aggregate and sand in by hand too.
ALmost got it all finished before I had to go into hospital for a small operation - so left my dad cutting the edge bits.
got back after operation and spent a relaxing half an hour guiding the wacker plate around.

Good job we got it done - we had glorious weather over easter (yes I know how long ago that is.) the evening we finished, the heavens opened.

Note the photos of the three generations all with suitable sized wheelbarrows and shovels. Little Matt (3) is very good at mixing concrete now.

Thanks for the advice and the great site.

Now, about 11 metres of random stone retaining wall at a height of 70 cm.....

Looks great - you need a piccie of the finished job with all the sand swept off, though, to really show off your skills! :)

And if young Matt is a dab hand at mixing concrete, getting him to knock-up mortar for the stone walling should be a doddle!
