I've just spent two very hard days feeding a 3 ton crusher with the remains of my garage walls and slab, walling and other various bits of concrete and stone.
The crusher cost me £250 plus £20 in fuel and it looks like I have 40 tons of 50mm crusher run.
Was it worth it?
Dave
PS It's going under my new driveway

Worth the aching back and bruised arms then - bruised from leaning over the top of the crusher to free blockages!
It did work well but it was important to have an assistant watching the lumps going in so they didn't jam.
My job was to drop a load from the front bucket of my tractor into the hopper but not directly over the crusher jaws to avoid the jams.

jamming? sounds like you had a red rhino. Thats why they put a step on the side, so someone can stand on it and free the jams.
not the quickest of machines, but it is cost effective, and enviormental!

Yep.
Quite a big bu**er, I think it was a 5000 series - 3tonner?
I thought the cost, £100 per day plus £25 each way transport very reasonable.
The "three tons per hour" was a tad optimistic but it churned away steadily. Had someone on the step constantly (except when tipping from the tractor) to avoid the jams.
Fortunately, I have the area of a demolished double garage and space besides (new bungalow starting in the Spring). Had to juggle positions a bit to get it all in though.

Definitely sounds like a Rhino! We send our 3.5 tonne Komplet crushers out complete with operator to control the feed belt - by not getting the blockages we regularly process upwards of 75 tonnes in an 8 hour day.
Looks like you're in Wakefield Dave? Pity as weve had one of our guys up in sheffield area for the last 5 weeks on various sites, could have saved you 2 days hard labour!!
