I've got a 2 foot retaining wall holding back a patio area which I want to block pave. What should I do for edgings along the top of the wall to finish the pavers against?
You need to provide some 'check' to prevent accidental straying over the edge. In fact, with a 600mm drop, you really ought to have a railing in place - you would certainly be required to install one on a commercial project, or to extend the wall upwards to provide a safety barrier.
As a minimum, I'd suggest using an SBR mortar (or Ronafix) to fasten tall (200mm high) block paving kerbs to the top of the wall, but I'd much rather see the wall extended upwards.
Suppose the wall was shorter - say three courses of brick. How would you recommend finishing off with bullnose or similar? I'm concerned that only half the brick will sit on the wall, and whether there'd be sufficient haunching.
