I generally use my current account for paying in money, cheques, debit card etc. The greedy bastards at halifax bank want to sting me for a pound a day overdraft charges. The account is probably half in the red and half in the black during the year. In the red is usually after christmas and then empty by the time i've paid my tax bill in January.

What is the best business bank account ? Are they expensive to use ?

have been with hsbc business banking for years and like previously mentioned they are all take and no give. Doesnt help now that nearly all the banks are closing branches down to force more internet and electronic payments. Makes it very hard to pay cheques in during the working week if your not in a town centre.
Looked in to moving a couple of times but didnt really see any benefit plus most wont allow you to transfer overdrafts so they try and get you to take out a loan

i use hsbc but keep meaning to move due to their ridiculous charges, i have to pay them 320 a month for the pleasure of paying lots of money in to them???
i do all my bills online and if possible i would rather by paid by bacs its so much quicker and easier than cheques

Consider joining the Federation of Small Businesses, they have a very good deal negotiated with the Co-operative Bank.

For the annual subs (about £125 as I recall) you also get a legal help line, insurance against VAT and / or Revenue investigations, discounted merchant package if you want to take credit cards - all in all I have found it well worthwhile over the years.Federation of Small Businesses

I use Abbey for my business account. The only thing I dont like is that you have to pay cash in through the cashpoint and chqs by post or through cashpoint. But it is easy ot do things online and it is free. :)
