I have a 51 ft paved garden put down by the previous owner. I want to resurface it with new paving. At the moment the patio is virtually flat with a negilable drop towards the bottom of the garden.

It seems that to do a 25mm drop over 1.5mtrs is a lot. As this would equate to nearly 250mm over the total length. How detremental will it be to do less of a drop as this would majorly affect the fencing and side beds. I am planning to put a 6" drainage trench along the back of the house with shingle. We do not have a drainage problem at the moment.

If we decide to put down some lawn at the end of the garden. Do i need to create a drainage trench filled with gravel to stop the lawn gettting water logged.

All advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Michael
