I have used pads made by irwin tools for 2-3 years now velcro bands wrap around knee's,gel pads very comfy velcro hold tight,does not dig in, also i have a pair made buy mcguire mcnicolas which is American company, velcro again not gel but very comfy, search the web for them or maybe ebay MSH

i have about 5 or 6 pairs of helly hansen work pants with built in knee pads, not the thickest but they stay in all day (12 hours) what ever i'm doing, even if in machine all day and you don't notice them till you kneel down.
