Hi
Does anyone have any suggestions for removing a mixture of 2 parts grano dust to 1 part cement from an india stone drive? It is dried on now. Brick acid and aggitation has helped but not completely solved by any means.
Thanks

Is it a big, or small area? 2 to 1 is quite a strong mix. would'nt it be easier to take up the affected areas and relay new stone?

It is the whole driveway! My husband was advised to use that mix ??? to re-point between the stones and the inevitable happened and lets just say it didn't 'neatly' fill the gaps! He has found that using a rotary wire brush and lots of water is doing the trick but is painstakingly slow

and why DJC was HE not doing the repointing?
you can get stronger acid from swimming pool supply centres but it may discolour your stone
dont forget gloves goggles etc and plenty of clean water on hand

It WAS my husband doing the re-pointing - I'm the one looking for solutions online whilst he's out there trying to fix it. Seems he's not using the brick acid anymore but we were very aware of the safety issues with using it thanks. I guess he'll be busy for the next few weekends ???

sorry misread it :(
2;1 is miles to strong for anything except benching manholes
what type of tool is he using to joint it?
marshalltown make a lovely brick jointing tool
also he needs the mortar to be just on the point of too stiff
wet in any way will ruin it

A strong acid such as Etching Fluid is the only real option, but as has been pointed out, there is a severe risk that the stone will be permanently discoloured (see this page) and there is the issue of where the wash-off ends up.

Personally, I'd have whoever suggested using 2:1 grano and cement cleaning it with their scrotal sac to ensure they never spouted such bollocks ever again!
