It's been a labour of love and spread over what seems like an eternity, i've eventually finished the re vamp of my back garden.

I've never tackled anything on this scale (being in the construction industry certainly helped) and all the help and information required has been gleened from this amazing web site! I would like to say a big thank you to all who have contributed in the form of advice.

My back garden suffered from flooding and it has taken a number of years to actually getting around to doing somethiong about it, 1st job remove the turf.

Image

You can clearly see the flooding problem, after taking the best part of 15" of top soil out all over i then refilled using a crusher run for the sub base, once this was installed the land drains went in.

Image

Dug to a depth of approx 800m/m below the sub base these were wrapped with a suitable permeable membrane and subsequently buried in pea gravel before covering with the sub base.

once levelled off and compacted the edging border was laid.

Borders laid and my new lawn could be laid, ( kept her indoors happy to see some colour)

A 75m/m depth of sharp sand and cement mix ( 6:1) was laid and the patio commenced to be laid upon this,(Purchased by the way from the tobermore outlet in Chorley)

Ther was a lot of work that went in to this in between the photo's i have posted but i think you'll get the general idea.

I'm very of what i've achieved (and so's the wife) i could not have done it without the help of this site, again a big thank you to all who gave their advice freely.
