Patio flagstones (slabs), concrete flags, stone flags including yorkstone and imported flagstones.

Hi. I am ordering some 20mm granite slabs from Nustone, this week and am thinking about laying them on a 25mm dry bed of sharp sand and cement. This will be on top of an exsisting base that is already under our patio.
Would this be sufficent?

Also, would they be ok butt jointed or will I have to leave a pointing gap?
