Cheers guys thanks for your replies. Purchased ACO Rain drain (polymer concrete version) and am now in the process of laying a 28 meter continuous run across the back of the house and part way down the side . In this continuous length there are 4 “knockouts in the bottom of the drain around equal distance from each other. Each of the “knockouts “ are connected to 4 inch pipe (trapped) which in turn is connected to a length of 4 inch pipe that runs perpendicular to the drain and into the manhole.
Directly above the knockouts downspouts from the various roof gutters and valley troughs will be run into the drain. I just need to decide which way from the above suggestions is “best
And on that note its over to you again 

All sounds fine to me; 28 metres of acos is the best £450 you'll spend!
The jury is out when it comes to downspout connections though! For me, I just terminate them just above the level of the aco grille.
