Dont know if you heard any interviews with Sir Randolph Fiennes this week but `Plodding` was his game plan, dont look up or down just keep on plodding until you reach the top.

Bollocks was what come into my head when i read the above - anyway i ain't taking the sub base up now it will have to go on top and then 2" sand wacked then the 1" of screen sand before i lay the pavers.
Would it be ok still to put the terram down ?
Regards the manhole cover .........> I have removed the old manhole cover and cleaned it all off down to the bricks and as you see it on the picture it is just placed ontop of the hole and not fixed.
I have on order a new manhole cover that will take the block paving but i am waiting stock and that is the reason it is not already been cemented in place but should fit in nice.
It is terram the black weave type material used to keep the weeds out as it that i have bought so i would like to use it if possible even if it means me taking the mot up again.
I would rather not do that obviously but surely it must be ok if i lay it on top of the MoT not ?
The manhole will fall in place just nice i think as the pictures below show as it has a nice fall towards the gate and away from the house.
PS: I am kicking myself now regards the terram and i should of looked at the main site again before i started but my mistake.
The path you can see in which i will be block paving is 16 mtrs long it doesn't look that in the picture does it so it just shows the camera does lie ?
I was tiered as we had a death in the family my Dads dad ( Grandad ) dies suddenly late thursday night and i was at my parents most the evening untill 5am friday morning only to be woke at 8:30 with the delivery of my sand and MOT by the driver asking where i wanted it dropping so was a hard day.

The fabric you have is not Terram and at this stage there is no point using it or any kind of fabric as it will not serve you any purpose. On the plus side the fabric you have is a lot cheaper than terram so you could have wasted a lot more money. Regards to you and your family for your loss. Pablo

I can relate to that! I have barrowed a ton of tarmac in 7 barrows before - but our barrows aren't single barrows - they are full-on prams with roller bearing wheels etc etc
But I agree, it is better to do 75% loads and keep plodding rather than full loads. I think I just wanted to get home that day!!

7 barrows....WOW i would say it took me 20 barrows to move 1 ton of sand and the same again for the MOT maybe even more as even though it looked the same amount in the barrow the MOT seamed to be heavier if that makes sense.
Yes, but I expect you were using a single barrow and having to shovel it into it yourself? The tarmac was loaded via a chute out of the back of one of our wagons into one of our prams. You can probably fit double a single barrow load into one......

Would these make a good border at each side running down to my gate from the french doors ?
I like the design of the black diamond in the centre and i think it might look really effective rather than a boring charcoal border every tom dick & harry has.
