i'm just putting in the sub base for a path(40mm crusher run) at about 150mm deep.

how much do you think it will compact down when whacked? i want the finished path to come out at the same height as a concrete step which will be paved too but obviously wont move

thanks :D

depends on the compaction equipment being used and the quality of the crusher run, if its got enough fines in it and whether it is really 40mm and not half bricks haha

if you start 20mm above your step you should be ok assuming a lightish plate compactor.
