Can a land drain be used to help a damp cellar wall. The idea is to install a land drain along the external wall and terminate it at a gulley which is at cellar floor level. How near to the external wall should the land drain be posiitoned? How deep? Can it then be covered with a Tarmac drive?

You would have to obviously excavate down to the full depth of the cellar, install pipework and backfill with a granular fill, we would also put a plastic membrane on the outer brickwork or possibly render the wall.

Its a big job though, have you fully investigated the water/damp ingress to confirm it is a ground water issue ????
