hi all
got a garage raft to do, 150 mm deep 450mm deep trench footing around outside. its in the shape of a L, its about 12 metres down one side 15 metres down the other. theres oak posts holding up the front wall plate so the 450mm trench wont be needed here just 450mm pads for the bottom of the posts. there is going to be renforcement mesh in the slab, my question is will i need a exspansion joint or can i pour one section one day move the roadforms and pour the next one, also when i do secound pour do i use steel dowls to join them or just but up. i think the pour is about 20 odd metre3, the bays are 5 metres wide. cheers dylan

pour it in a single pour, the drawing will spec. any expansion joints, i cant see them being needed in a raft of that size,

To pour it in 2 part will not be ideal as you will need to buy more dowel bars and engineer will have to approve them and building control will check them, 20m3 is only 3 loads and a part load ,are you going to pump it in? MSH

thanks for your quick reply msh. your quite right i was only thinking about the hire of more roadforms and the ease of doing a bit at a time. no need to pump, back up and let it go. think i will have to hire a tamp to span 5 metre bit much for a timber one. i could post some pic if i can work it out. cheers dylan
