Is this a joint stabiliser for block paving?

I've been reading your excellent site all night (hence the time now) including the bit about the stabilisers. I have a 10 year old block paved patio which has just been pressured washed and I now need to replace some sand in the joints.

After I've done that, would the above product be suitable for use as a stabiliser as the replaced sand will presumably just escape again. the patio is quite solid and intact with no movement or loose blocks.

I've tried to find the products you mention on your site in local high DIY street stores, i.e Wickes, B&Q, Screwfix and have not been able to.
My lawn is haunting me. It's coming up throught the patio!

Most of the products I mention on this site hail from Builders' and Contractors' Merchants, rather than DIY sheds.

If you must use a jointing stabiliser, you can get JointFix from Instarmac - call them on 01827 872244 and they'll put you in touch with your local stockist.

If I just replace the sand into the gaps won't it get washed away when it rains?

No, gravity does most of the job and the fine nature of the sand does the rest ;)

I spent a lot of money on this product and hours laying it only to find the weeds eventually returned. Obviously the joints between my blocks aren't wide enough but I was desperate enough to try it!

Yes, didn't know anything else existed at the time. I'm now investigating Resiblock!
