Hello, is there a recycled aggregate that can be used to block pave on? A local place does fine crushed concrete which several lads told me they use but it seems to have fines in it so would probably soak up water. Has anybody used re-cycled hardcore instead of grit sand?
There are recycled 'sands' that can be used for conventional block paving, but you need to be sure they comply with Table D3 of 7533:3. Some of the "sands" sold as suitable for block paving contain too much soft material and not enough larger particles.
The recycled sand is mostly used in SE Ingerland where they are desperately short of decent aggregates. I know Days' Aggregates are providing a crushed/tumbled glass for use as a block laying sand.
aye, with the shortage of M Grade sand in some areas you can achieve the same grading & performance by blending 5mm crushed glass with fine building sand.
i used to love using tarmac, but got fed up with getting my asphalt
