Excellent website
Have taken on board the opinions expressed here about the colour durability of clay over concrete. However one of the potential contractors I asked to give me a quote on paving my driveway advised that from his experience clay blocks are higher maintenance in terms of cleaning - due to the surface pitting found on clay blocks which leads to 'greening' of the surface which would require cleaning/treatment several times a year. Is this correct? Or was he trying to steer me away from clay blocks for some reason?

There is no real difference in maintenance levels between clays and concretes. The contractor claiming that there is, and that it's due to the presence of 'pitting' on the surface of clay pavers is an eejit. The surface of concrete pavers is just as pitted when viewed under high-magnification.
